Meet the Staff of Stephen J. Garcia, DDS and the My Washington DC Dentist Team

Stephen J. Garcia, D.D.S., PC, a second generation dentist, was born in Washington, D.C. and reared in Chevy Chase, MD. He attended Georgetown Prep, Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, Duquesne University (B.A. - Psychology), Howard University (D.D.S. - 1976), and University of Maryland (Certificate in Prosthodontics).

Dr. Garcia has been operating his dental practice since 1976 and is a member of the American College Of Prosthodontics, the American Dental Association, The D.C. Dental Society, and the Renaissance Dental Study Club.

Dr. Garcia was recently honored by being selected by peers for the first edition of "The Best Dentists in America." He also is currently an Assistant Professor of Graduate Dentists at Howard University College of Dentistry and has taught both Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics at University of Maryland.

New to the Washington, D.C. area, Kelly moved here from Tawas, Michigan, a small town located on Lake Huron. She received a B.S. in dental hygiene from the University of Michigan in 2007. She is licensed in Michigan, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. In addition, to working in our office three days a week in Prosthdontics, she also works in Pediatric Dentistry one day a week.

Her goal as a dental hygienist is to make her patients comfortable with their dental experience and to help patients achieve their optimum oral health status. She has been enjoying all that the DC area has to offer, and on her spare time she enjoys running, sporting events, and traveling.

Adriana Alcantara graduated in 1995 from Universidad Nacional Autonoma De Mexico in Mexico City as an Oral Surgeon. She moved to Silver Spring, MD in 1996. Adriana has extensive dental assisting experience as she has been in this field for 12 years. She has taken continuing education courses on Lumineers and Invisalign. She is also actively pursuing her license  in this area. She also works part-time as a surgical assistant for a pediatric dental office that works out of Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. She is fluent in English and Spanish.

Flor Aviles graduated in 1996 from El Salvador University as a General Dentist. She had a private practice in El Salvador for 9 years. Flor moved to the Washington D.C. area in 2003, and she is actively pursuing her dental license in this area. She has taken continuing education courses and plans on taking the dental board examination in the near future. For 4 years, she assisted volunteer dentists at Spanish Catholic Center, which is a non-profit organization providing services to low- income families. She still volunteers there when she is needed. She is experienced working at the front desk and is Fluent in English and Spanish.

Moe manages the doctor's calendar and coordinates his travel arrangements. She assists the doctor with endotontics treatments, including surgeries. She makes sure that the office equipment is up to date and that supplies are replenished, while keeping overhead under control. She is constantly reprioritizing our workload while maintaining quality and following through for the best customer care possible.
